Work Record 5

Work Record 5

John Stezaker

The work of Stezaker mixes different pictures with portraits. This includes both landscapes and even other portraits. The mixing two different images makes a new image as well as changing the way you think about the original two image.

Plan for shoot
This shoots plan is to take pictures of landscapes, portraits and a skull and to combined them like Stezaker.

Image bank

I'll create images similar to the ones above just I'll have one person and the skull instead of two people.

Best images

This image reminds me of a scene in fairytale as it's calm. The wiggly lines of the big tree is relaxing compared to straight line that are more serious.

This image is one of the better photos that are among a red background as it's not a blurry. However the lighting isn't correct.

The lighting in this image is good considering it wasn't taken in a studio. It has also been framed correctly.

This image looks great both as a stand allow image and will along side the portraits of my dad.

Images that require improvement

This image has buildings which shouldn't be they as the landscape should be nature only.

The image above is too dark so it will not stand out as well as a bright one in front of a black and white portrait. It also has building which is the approach I'm going for.

The lighting isn't correct as one side of his face is darker then the over. In the future I'll just take photos in the correct lighting although in this case it isn't a big problem as half the face will be covered with a skull

AO3: Record ideas, observations and insights relevant to intentions, reflecting critically on work and progress.

I think that judging from the images allow the landscape are the best. The skull pictures were successful and will look good with paired with my portraits. I just think the image allow is a bit plain. Althougtht the portraits didn't go to well as most of them are blurry even thought I used a tripod. I should of had photos of more then one person but for a first attempt it's not to bad. Out of the portraits I think the ones against a white background are better as the lighting is correct but they are still blurry.

AO2Explore and select appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques and processes, reviewing and refining ideas as work develops.

All images outside F-stop: 22, shutter speed:1/50 and ISO:200. This insured that the blue sky was vibrant and will stand out well against the black and white portrait. I didn't use a tripod as I just saw the pond walking home and in the moment thought I would try a shoot as the sky was the perfect colour blue and not raining, a rare phenomenon. I checked the images on my laptop when I got home to check if they were blurry or wonky and should be done again with a tripod but the major were fine. Image among a red background of my dad F-stop: 5.6, shutter speed: 0.8 and ISO:100. Portraits among white backgrounds F-stop: 5.6, shutter speed: 10 and ISO:100.  Both portrait shoots I used a tripod although most of the images are blurry. All images of the skull F-stop: 11, shutter speed:1/125 and ISO: 100. Snot lights and a tripod were used for this shoot in the studio with the skull.

AO1: Develop ideas through sustained and focused investigations informed by contextual and other sources, demonstrating analytical and critical understanding.

First I turned the image into black and white.

I then dragged the image of the landscape on top of the first image. After that I then adjusted it to fit over my dads face making sure to see the top of his head and his mouth.

AO4: Present a personal and meaningful response that realises intentions and, where appropriate, makes connections between visual and other elements.

Final images

Progression: you must refer to what you will do next to improve on either the shoot you have done or how you will develop your project in the next shoot.

My next shoot will be based on Minna Kantomen which I'll use to explore how to include the skeleton into the real world.
