Shamekh Al-Bluwi

Al- Bluwi's work is created using paper cut outs of women wearing different kinds of dress, the dress is then cut out and becomes whats behind it. Shamekh Al-Bluwi is a fashion designer and uses these to come up with ideas for his work.
For my shoot I won't draw faces on to the drawings as they are small, so its too hard to draw and it will take to long to create. I have also decided to create a male one and one with a women wearing a swim suit to experiment with technique. I will use a range of different settings for the dress including

A brick wall isn't the first thing you think of when thinking of fashion. The fence post image is also better then the over images with just the brick wall as only the wall is too plain.
This works as you can see what the dress is (a bush). The fence shows that it's in a garden.
In the image above the dress is made from mostly a building and a bit of railing at the back. In my later attempts I just had the building but the inclusion of two building as the railing works as trimming at the end of the dress. This second layer is better then the original idea of just the office building.
The bark and leaves make a rougher look compared to the more conventional floral pattern.
Images that require improvement
Both the top and bottom of the template have filled out the image, it is then blocking the background so you can't get a clear view of what has been used to make the dress.
The full person isn't shown in this image which docent make the massage clear.
The lighting is too dark not showing the bright colours of the daffodils. The shadow from my arm is also visible which distracts from the images purpose and makes the daffodils appear even darker. This is unlike Shamekh Al-Bluwi's work which is full of colour.
The dress isn't in focus. This showed me that you had to be fairly close to the subject.

The image with daffodils as the dress wasn't the best as the lighting could be better. I could of improved this by adding one or two objects in the background (e.g. an ornament) so it doesn't look as plain. One image has a background of flowers I don't think this works as flowers are often on dresses so it's not the most out there idea, I'm looking for something that could be on a dress just it's not the first thing you would think of when it comes to a dress design. This isn't the best shot as it not related to skeletons. Now the shoot is over I have noticed that I could of used a drawing of a skeleton instead of a dress. If I decide to do further work on this then I would do use a skeleton drawing.
AO2: Explore and select appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques and processes, reviewing and refining ideas as work develops.
I did use a tripod as I have learnt in the past to prevent a blurry and uneven image. The reason same images are blurry is because the my hand was shaking. This could of been prevented with a higher shutter speed. Both images in my garden with a bush and the brick wall as backgrounds settings are F-stop: 18, shutter speed: 1/5 and ISO: 200. The image of the daffodils as the dress F-stop: 10, shutter speed:1/6 and ISO: 100. My favourite the image withe the office building settings are F-stop: 22, shutter speed: 1/160 and ISO: 200. The next image which I like I just didn't include it among the best as the flowers as the background isn't the most creative idea has settings of, F-stop: 25, shutter speed: 1/13 and ISO: 100. The last two images share a shutter speed of 1/125. The one with the dress as a background has an F-stop: 8 and ISO:100. The final image is F-stop: 9 and ISO: 200.

I used the dodging tool to make the lefts stand out.

For the second image in my final images I used the eyedropper to select the light green of the inner leafs. Using the pencil I then added extra green to the inside of leafs as I thought it was lacking colour.
The next image was white enough so I selected the lightest selection of white of the image and used the paint brush to paint it on. The drawing of the man in a suit wasn't clear enough so I want over the drawing again in a slightly darker colour.
AO4: Present a personal and meaningful response that realises intentions and, where appropriate, makes connections between visual and other elements.

Progression: you must refer to what you will do next to improve on either the shoot you have done or how you will develop your project in the next shoot.
My next shoot will incorporate Uta Barth's work which doesn't apply to conventional photography.
